Richardson to prioritize local control in legislative agenda

Richardson will oppose any state or federal legislation that would decrease local control over the city, Chief of Police Gary Tittle said at the Oct. 26 City Council meeting.

The overview: Tittle presented preliminary information on the city’s legislative priorities ahead of the upcoming state and federal legislative sessions, with local control being the city’s highest priority. Council is set to approve the full legislative agenda at a future meeting.

The big picture: Richardson’s legislative agenda is a “guide for council and staff to promote and protect our municipal interest” during the sessions, said Tittle, who leads the city’s legislative efforts at the state and federal level.

Quote of note: “Our highest legislative agenda priority is really to preserve what we already have, making sure that we protect local control,” Tittle said.

The new gates are A10, A11, A13 and A15. The remaining six gates will open over the next few weeks as part of the pier-style expansion, according to a news release from the Fort Worth-based airline.

The 140,000-square-foot addition follows a similar pier-style expansion at Terminal C, which opened in June and added nine gates.

Zooming in: According to American Airlines, Terminal A will become the airline’s busiest hub, with more than 200 departures on peak days.

The pier features updated seating with power outlets at every seat, electronic boarding gates, and expanded dining and shopping options, according to a news release.
