Bastrop is making several transportation and safety changes in and around the Sendero and Burleson Crossing shopping centers, including improvements to the nearby senior living community Settlement Estates.

1. Blakey Lane parking restrictions: A new tow-away zone will prohibit stopping, standing and parking on both sides of Blakey Lane from the 100 block to FM 969.

2. Blakey Lane extension: Contractors will construct a segment of the Blakey Lane extension and install a water line near Burleson Crossing East.

3. Settlement Estates improvements: Two new stop signs will create a three-way stop, and the existing crosswalk will move to the intersection.

4. Settlement Estates pedestrian connection: The city completed a sidewalk connection providing pedestrian and mobility-device access between Settlement Estates and Burleson Crossing East.
 

Bastrop Starbucks lovers will have another option to choose from next spring when the coffee shop opens its second location in the city.

The gist: Construction is set to run Jan. 18-April 5, 2027, at an upcoming retail center called Bastrop Grove. The development is located near Ascension Seton Bastrop Hospital and several hotels in various stages of completion.

The 2,260-square-foot coffee shop will offer dine-in and drive-thru services.

A Logistics Park in Georgetown, a hotel in Austin and a Scooter’s Coffee in Cedar Park are among the five most expensive projects filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation in the Austin metro this week.

1. Northland Project ($60 million): This project involves the interior finish-out of an existing shell building.

2. Green Point Building 3 ($42 million): This project is part of the 231-acre GTX Logistics Park in Georgetown, and involves the construction of a 753,481 square foot concrete tiltwall warehouse shell.

3. East Austin 7th Street Hotel ($34 million): This project includes the construction of a new, 5-story commercial hotel.

4. Scooter's Coffee ($400,000): A new Scooter’s Coffee location is coming to Cedar Park, with construction set to wrap up in the spring.

5. Starbucks ($400,000): A new Starbucks location is coming to Bastrop, with construction set to wrap up in April.

The University of Texas System Board of Regents approved adding the first phase of the UT Dell Medical Center to UT’s capital improvement program at an Aug. 12 meeting.

The CIP is the university’s approved list of major capital projects. Adding the project to the CIP allows the project to move forward with early design and development preparation work.

The background: The UT Dell Medical Center will be a 27-acre medical complex planned to be equipped with a hospital tower, outpatient facilities, an emergency department and 300-500 patient beds for specialized care, according to documents from the UT Board of Regents.

The details: Phase I of the project is expected to cost up to $1 billion and will be funded from the university’s revenue financing system bonds.
