Master-planned community coming to Webster this spring

Midline, a new 1,000-acre community located between Houston and Galveston, will have a welcome center and model homes ready this spring, according to the development’s website. 

The overview: The community will feature a row of model homes from each company working on the project for prospective residents to view. Prospective residents will also be able to meet with a Midline guide to tour the property and ask questions, according to the website.

Chipotle to open 3rd location in League City

Chipotle is scheduled to open its 3rd location on League City Parkway on Feb. 17, according to a news release from Chipotle.

The details: Chipotle sells Mexican-inspired food, including burritos, bowls and salads that customers can customize with a variety of fresh ingredients.

IAH to add 2 new nonstop routes to Mexico this summer

An airline at George Bush Intercontinental Airport will premiere two new nonstop routes to Mexico beginning June 1.

What’s new: Volaris—which opened at IAH in 2015—will launch flight routes from Houston to Querétaro, Mexico, and Puebla, Mexico. Flights will be offered three times per week, and tickets became available for purchase Feb. 3.

Notable quote: “Houston is a key market for the airline, and these connections to Querétaro and Puebla strengthen a network designed to serve the needs of our binational communities,” Volaris Executive Vice President Holger Blankenstein said.

Some context: Volaris also offers flights from Houston to:

  • Guadalajara, Mexico
  • Mexico City, Mexico
  • Morelia, Mexico
  • San Luis Potosí, Mexico
  • San Salvador, El Salvador

Check this out: Montgomery County Precinct 2 residents will have an opportunity to dispose of their heavy trash March 7-8 during Commissioner Charlie Riley’s Heavy Trash Clean Up Day, according to a Feb. 4 Facebook post.

From 8 a.m.-5 p.m. March 7 and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. March 8, residents can bring their heavy trash to 31245 Friendship Drive, Magnolia. Accepted items include batteries, tires and electronics, among others. 

In other news: The Houston Texans are setting up shop in Bridgeland.

The NFL franchise is collaborating with Harris County Precincts 3 and 4 and Howard Hughes Holdings to invest $83 million into a new “Toro District” in Cypress, which will include a new Texans headquarters and training facilities. Harris County commissioners approved the public-private partnership Feb. 12 following a closed-session meeting.

Also of note: A new La La Land Cafe is expected to open in Katy's Meadows Marketplace later this year.
