Lower speed limit could be coming to FM 1385 in Prosper, Celina

Drivers in Prosper and Celina are set to see a new speed limit on sections of FM 1385 coming soon.

What you need to know: The Texas Department of Transportation recently completed a speed study on FM 1385 from US 380 to FM 455, which stretches through several municipalities, including Prosper. The study showed most drivers were within a range of 47 to 53 mph, while the road’s existing speed limit sits around 55 mph.

Town documents note that due to the “developed area and high number of driveways” along FM 1385, TxDOT recommended reducing the current speed limit of 55 mph to 45 mph.

Next steps: Local communities must each adopt the speed limit by ordinance for it to become effective on the roadway, town documents state. TxDOT will install all of the updated speed limit signs, once approved.
