Construction on Center Street cleared to begin in Kyle

Four of the original transportation projects included in the Kyle 2022 Road Bond Program approved by voters are under construction or completed. The Center Street project will soon become the fifth project to enter the construction phase.

The overview: On June 22, a Notice to Proceed was issued for the Center Street project, allowing the construction phase to begin. Kyle residents may see active construction and utility relocation in the area this July.

The project will widen parts of the road, add curbs and gutters, add lighting and add sidewalks to both sides of the road, including one shared-use path, between Old Stagecoach Road and Veterans Drive.

A new single-lane roundabout will replace an existing five-way stop, according to a city of Kyle news release. The road section connects nearby neighborhoods, Wallace Middle School and Gregg-Clarke Park.

Looking forward: As construction gets underway, traffic patterns may change and there will be occasional delays, according to the release. Homes and properties are expected to remain accessible during the construction phase.
