Shenandoah city administrator resigns after 18 years of service

The city of Shenandoah announced the resignation of City Administrator Kathie Reyer on Oct. 8 after 18 years with the city, citing health reasons.

The details: Reyer has served as city administrator for the past eight years, leading efforts that strengthened city operations, built partnerships with community stakeholders and guided Shenandoah through periods of growth, according to an Oct. 8 news release.

She previously held several positions within the city, including city secretary, public information officer and assistant director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, according to the release.

Quote of note: “Serving as city administrator has been the honor of my career,” Reyer said in the release. “I am deeply proud of what we have accomplished together and of the culture of teamwork and innovation that has taken root at City Hall.”

What's next: During the same Oct. 8 meeting, the City Council appointed Public Works Director Joseph Peart as interim city administrator. Steps to fill the role permanently were not outlined during the meeting.

The Ritz-Carlton Residences, The Woodlands slated for 2027 completion

Oct. 8 marked the topping out of construction on The Ritz-Carlton Residences, according to a news release from Howard Hughes, marking the point at which the building reached its full height, about a year after ground breaking took place.

Designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, the project is slated to open in 2027, according to the release.

What to expect: The facility will be located on 8 acres with 15,000 square feet of indoor wellness and lifestyle amenities, 3 acres of outdoor amenities and 1,200 feet of lakefront shoreline reserved for residents, according to the news release. Developers have described it as the first standalone Ritz-Carlton condominiums in Texas.

The Woodlands Township announces lane closures for Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas

The Woodlands Township announced several lane closures for the Oct. 11 Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas 10-mile race, 3.1 Armadillo Run 5K and One 4 Texas Kids' Fun Run through The Woodlands. The race is a 10-mile USA Track and Field-sanctioned event, according to information from the township.

What you need to know: The inside lane of several streets will be closed from 6-10:30 a.m.:

  • Lake Woodlands Drive: westbound from Lakeside Boulevard to Golden Sage Drive
  • Lake Woodlands Drive: eastbound from Golden Sage Drive to Windward Cove

What else: The race begins at 7 a.m. with the One 4 Texas Kids' Fun Run and is followed by the 3.1 Armadillo Run 5K, 10-Mile Wheelchair Division Race and the 10-for Texas, with an awards ceremony at 9:30 a.m., according to information from the township.

Mountain Mike's Pizza local franchise owners announced the opening of a second Cypress location in a Oct. 8 news release. The new store marks the third location in the Houston area.


Locally franchised and owned by Nadeem Rajani, Karim Rajani and Danish Faraz, the shop provides a variety of pizza offerings with dough made in-house according to the owners. The new location also has a 700-square-foot patio, a kid's arcade section and all-you-can-eat pizza buffet.

Queen Bee’s Tea Room brings classic British refinement and Southern hospitality to the Houston Heights through aesthetic decor and a curated selection of teas and pastries, according to the establishment’s social media.


The woman-owned, Texas-based business offers an afternoon tea experience with vintage teacups and inventive tea-infused creations.


The business will also offer dishes to pair with the teas. Co-owner Kristy Jhaver said the menu blends the finest ingredients to elevate customers' tea experiences, featuring items such as soups, salads and sandwiches.
