TWU launches research and workforce development center

The Center of Leadership Research and Workforce Development has launched at Texas Woman’s University, according to a news release.

The details: The new center is meant to bridge between academia and workforce needs and will be a part of the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership, per the release. It will teach leadership and workforce readiness skills such as critical thinking, coachability, effective communication, emotional intelligence, artificial intelligence literacy and ethical reasoning.

Flower Mound council approves 132-townhome Lakeside East proposal, project economic incentives

A revised Lakeside East proposal that swaps apartments for townhomes garnered unanimous approval from Flower Mound Town Council.

The proposal, which required approval of a master plan amendment and a rezoning request, were approved with one exception during the Oct. 6 meeting. The exception will allow Lakeside’s developer, Realty Capital, to build proposed office and retail buildings up to three stories at the corner of FM 2499 and Spinks Road.

The details: The revised proposal includes a couple of changes to what was tabled by council in April, including replacing 326 apartments with townhomes and swapping out a proposed four-story office building for two smaller buildings.

Lakeside East will include:

  • Up to 132 townhome units that will either be individually platted or included in a condominium association
  • Two retail or office buildings at the corner of FM 2499 and Spinks Road
  • A full-service hotel
  • Retail and restaurant sites along FM 2499

HCA Healthcare takes over SignatureCare Emergency Center, donates $5K to Cross Timbers Family YMCA

A North Texas emergency room formerly known as SignatureCare Emergency Center is now known as Medical City ER Cross Timbers, according to a news release.

The overview: The business officially opened under a new name Oct. 1, said Alexandra Perdomo, director of communications and community engagement at Medical City Lewisville. The emergency room has been acquired by HCA Healthcare and will be operated as a department of Medical City Lewisville, per the news release.

It is the ninth off-campus emergency room in the Medical City Healthcare system, according to the release.
