Craig International announces $200M mixed-use project for former Globe Life HQ

McKinney-based development company Craig International is redeveloping the former Globe Life headquarters campus into a $200 million mixed-use development called Rowlett Station.

In a nutshell: Craig International formally announced the project June 8, nearly a week after McKinney City Council members voted to rezone a portion of the campus for multifamily development. The campus is located on nearly 58 acres at 3700 S. Stonebridge Drive and includes 300,789 square feet of existing office space, according to a news release.

The details: The campus will undergo a phased redevelopment that could exceed $200 million in total ad valorem value, according to the news release. Rowlett Station’s preliminary master plan includes apartments, retail and office space.

Plans also include a network of hike and bike trails that connect Stonebridge Drive to Eldorado Parkway and run throughout the development. Additional details about project partners, branding and phased development plans will be announced in the coming months, according to the news release.

AC Hotel McKinney set to debut 137-room hotel, 5th-floor upscale eatery

AC Hotel McKinney along with Good & Proper Wood Fired Bistro are slated for a mid-October opening, General Manager Craig Barnett said.

The overview: Construction began on the hotel in March 2024, and has since taken the project vertical to its planned five-story height. The building will span nearly 71,500 square feet, Barnett said.

Amenities planned for the hotel include:

  • AC Lounge: A Spanish-inspired, lobby-level bar that will serve alcoholic beverages alongside tapas

  • An outdoor pool and patio with sitting areas and fire pits

  • A large fitness center with Peloton bikes, free weights and more

Diving in deeper: Good & Proper Wood Fired Bistro, which will open at the same time as the hotel, will be located on the fifth floor of the hotel and have its own separate entrance. The restaurant will be open for dinner service and the menu will feature elevated American fare with inspiration from Texas cuisine.

Legacy Drive expansion, Custer Parkway reconstruction: 5 Dallas-Fort Worth transportation updates

1. Legacy Drive widening
Project: The project will build two lanes of Legacy Drive from Prosper Trail to a future Prosper ISD middle school, widen the roadway to four lanes near the school and construct a water line.
Update: Prosper Town Council approved a $6.1 million construction contract for the project at a May 19 meeting, and construction is expected to begin later this summer.

2. McKinney concrete panel replacement
Project: McKinney’s Roadstock project will replace damaged concrete panels and restripe Eldorado Parkway and Virginia Parkway.
Update: McKinney City Council approved an additional $1.2 million for the project at a May 5 meeting, and concrete panel replacement has started along Virginia Parkway.
