Lone Star Family Health expanding to Magnolia, aiming to close health care gaps

Lone Star Family Health Center will expand its health care services with a location in Magnolia, according to a Sept. 25 news release. The expansion is meant to expand on the center’s mission to provide affordable health care.

More details: According to the release, the Tomball Regional Health Foundation will provide $500,000 in funding to help LSFHC expand its primary medical and dental services in the community.

What they offer: Lone Star Family Health Center is a nonprofit and federally qualified health center that has served underserved, underinsured and uninsured patients in Montgomery County since 2002, according to the release. The center offers comprehensive primary care including family medicine, women’s health, dentistry and behavioral health across five locations.

Going forward: The location in Magnolia is expected to open in early 2026 as the center works to establish budgets, complete renovations and recruit staff, according to the release.

Wesley Hunt announces run for US Senate, joining primary election

U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt, R-Houston, announced Oct. 6 that he will be running to represent Texas in the U.S. Senate, joining the March 2026 Republican primary election.

The details: Hunt was the first person elected to represent U.S. Congressional District 38 in 2022. Hunt announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat currently occupied by U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Austin, who was first elected in 2002.

Next steps: Hunt will appear on the GOP primary ballot scheduled for March 3, 2026.

Montgomery County district attorney resigns to run for state Senate

Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon resigned from his position on Oct. 2 to run for state Senate District 4 in 2026.

The details: The State senate seat was held by Brandon Creighton, R-Conroe, who resigned on Oct. 2 to be Texas Tech University System’s next chancellor and chief executive officer.

Senate District 4 represents all of Chambers County, a large portion of Montgomery and parts of Jefferson, Harris and Galveston counties, serving a total population of 954,803 people, according to the 2020 census.

What’s next: Ligon will continue to serve as the DA until Abbott appoints his successor, according to the state constitution.

First Assistant District Attorney Mike Holley has submitted his application to be the next district attorney; however, the governor has yet to announce a timeline for a replacement to serve Montgomery County.

Mountain Mike's Pizza local franchise owners announced the opening of a second Cypress location in a Oct. 8 news release. The new store marks the third location in the Houston area.


Locally franchised and owned by Nadeem Rajani, Karim Rajani and Danish Faraz, the shop provides a variety of pizza offerings with dough made in-house according to the owners. The new location also has a 700-square-foot patio, a kid's arcade section and all-you-can-eat pizza buffet.

Queen Bee’s Tea Room brings classic British refinement and Southern hospitality to the Houston Heights through aesthetic decor and a curated selection of teas and pastries, according to the establishment’s social media.


The woman-owned, Texas-based business offers an afternoon tea experience with vintage teacups and inventive tea-infused creations.


The business will also offer dishes to pair with the teas. Co-owner Kristy Jhaver said the menu blends the finest ingredients to elevate customers' tea experiences, featuring items such as soups, salads and sandwiches.
