St. Luke’s Health-Sugar Land Hospital launches Virtually Integrated Care program

St. Luke’s Health-Sugar Land Hospital has integrated a new virtual nursing program to help streamline and elevate patient care.

About the project: The Virtually Integrated Care model pairs experienced virtual registered nurses with bedside nurses and patient care assistants through online platforms to improve patient monitoring, streamline workflows and enhance family communication, hospital officials announced in a Nov. 4 news release.

The details: The touchscreen Virtual Care Delivery Platform is installed in patient rooms and unit areas, allowing connection between staff, patients and family members, hospital officials said in an email.

The backstory: VIC emerged after a 2012 study by Kathleen Sanford and the Catholic Health Initiative’s Institute for Research and Innovation explored technological solutions to address health care challenges, Julie Tuel, CommonSpirit Health's System vice president, said in an email.

What’s next: Although the program initially began on the hospital’s fifth floor, the model is actively expanding to the fourth floor and other Texas locations, per the release.

Local elementary school teacher opens bookstore, community classroom in Missouri City

Books & More stemmed from owner Michael Matherne’s love for teaching, books and community.

The overview: The locally-owned and operated bookstore is nestled in the Township Square Shopping Plaza and offers a wide selection of genres, according to the store’s website.

More details: Before opening Books & More, Matherne taught for more than eight years in Fort Bend ISD. He said he wanted to “bring the classroom to the community,” so the shop offers a range of classes, including tutoring for school-aged students and financial classes for adults.

Enchanted Chapters brings mobile bookstore pop-ups across Greater Houston

A new mobile bookstore is rolling into communities across Greater Houston, offering readers a joyful way to shop, owner Christie Hopson said.

A closer look: Enchanted Chapters hosts weekend pop-up events at breweries, festivals and other local gatherings, Hopson said. The mobile bookstore carries a variety of genres from romance to fantasy, thriller, mystery and children's books.

For November, Enchanted Chapters will appear at events in Cypress, Tomball, Seabrook, Katy and Conroe. Hopson said the goal is to bring the joy of discovering books directly to readers.

Claw City
Claw City officials confirmed the entertainment center opened a new location in late March. Claw City is a coin-operated claw machine arcade offering games and prizes, per its Facebook page.

Crabmee Japanese
The entertainment venue has multiple claw machines filled with plushies and gachapon capsule toys—which are either filled with collectible figures or treats, per the business's website. Crabmee also offers anime figurines, rare merchandise and exclusive items from different anime series.

Rekin Mini Shop
