Fort Worth council’s new budget includes decreased tax rate, increased fees
Fort Worth City Council adopted the fiscal year 2025-26 budget on Sept. 16. While the $3.09 billion budget is a 10.77% increase from last year’s budget, the council was able to approve a property tax rate reduction for FY 2025-26.
The details: The 10.77% increase equates to approximately $300 million in additional funds, which will be used to bolster current services as well as provide additional services to Fort Worth’s growing population. According to a city news release, the city’s population grew to exceed 1 million this past year.
Lululemon surpasses 5 years of operations at Tanger Outlets
An athletic apparel store, Lululemon, has held a location at Fort Worth’s Tanger Outlets for five years.
The store offers bodysuits, hoodies, sweatshirts and leggings along with other athletic clothing.
The background: Tanger Fort Worth management said the business signed a short term lease at the outlets in August 2020. The store officially opened in November of the same year.
Toys 'R' Us Express held its grand opening in Grapevine Mills Sept. 20.
The gist: The toy store moved into a space that was formerly occupied by Skechers, which moved to a new location. Toys 'R' Us sells plush animals, Legos, board games, Hot Wheels, Funko pops, Barbies and more. Geoffrey the Giraffe is also back and is one of the first things customers see when walking into the toy store.
The background: This is a return to the mall for the brand that shuttered its doors in March 2018, according to previous Community Impact reporting, when the company closed all 735 United States stores.

1. Tinker Road construction Project: Adding a new storm sewer system, replacing water and wastewater lines, installing a 5-foot concrete sidewalk on the north side and curb ramps from Emerald Drive to Ponderosa Street. Update: Construction will be finished by the end of the year, Assistant City Manager Adrienne Lothery said. Tinker Road will be closed from Ponderosa Lane to Caldwell Hughes Road and traffic will only be able to travel eastbound, she said.
