Local League City artists plan to transform the vacant, historic Walter and Helen Hall House located in Heritage Park into a public art facility, pending city approval and funding.

The details: City staff and the Art Guild of League City, a local non-profit promoting the arts in the community, presented a plan at a Sept. 8 City Council workshop to convert the historic house into a public art facility that would include four to five artist studios, classroom and gallery space, along with a 35-seat performance space.

Another point of view: Several council members said they had concerns about the museum's financial viability, given the historical cost overruns that contributed to the relocation of the Butler Longhorn Museum, the building's former occupant that vacated in 2022, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.

Fiamo Pizza, a family owned pizzeria, soft opened in League City in August, said Dior Cannoli, whose family owns the shop.

On the menu: Fiamo Pizza makes its ingredients in-house and its pizzas are made with non-bromated and non-bleached dough. Cheese blocks are also grated in-house, Cannoli said.

Quote of note: "It's the healthiest pizza you could possibly get," Cannoli said.

Looking ahead: The restaurant is planning a grand opening celebration in the future, but hasn't confirmed a date yet, Cannoli said.

The Golden Angel Group is scheduled to open its doors in October, an employee with the business said.

Four candidates are running for Texas lieutenant governor—the second-in-command to the governor—in the Nov. 3 election.

What's happening: Libertarian Anthony Cristo, Democrat Vikki Goodwin and Green Party candidate Kevin McCormick are challenging Republican incumbent Dan Patrick, who is seeking a fourth term.

The lieutenant governor leads the Texas Senate and can exercise the powers of the governor if the governor dies, resigns, is removed from office or is absent from the state, according to the Texas State Historical Association.

How we got here: Patrick won his Republican primary race in March, while Goodwin advanced to the general election after beating another Democrat in a May primary runoff, Community Impact reported. Cristo and McCormick were selected as their parties' respective candidates during nominating conventions in April.

Looking ahead: Early voting in the midterm election runs from Oct. 19-30, and Election Day is Nov. 3.
