HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest introduces Next-Generation Robotic Assisted Surgical Technology

HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest has added a next-generation robotic-assisted surgical system to expand access to advanced minimally invasive care. According to an Oct. 23 release, the technology allows surgeons to perform complex procedures through small incisions rather than the larger openings required for traditional surgery.

The details: Depending on the procedure and the individual patient, benefits of this minimally invasive surgery may include:

  • Less postoperative pain

  • Reduced blood loss

  • Shorter hospital stays

  • A faster return to everyday activities

The system features improved high-definition, three-dimensional visualization and highly responsive instruments. A notable advancement is the system's ability to provide surgeons with feedback regarding the amount of force applied to tissue.

Quote of note: "This investment is about more than bringing new technology into our operating rooms. It's about giving our patients access to advanced surgical care right here in our community," said Joel North, CEO. "We are committed to providing our physicians with the tools and resources they need to deliver exceptional care while helping patients get back to the people and activities they love."
