Kuma Rama brings anime-themed cafe and shop to life

Balancing spreadsheets while serving boba at their anime-themed cafe, Gaby and Bill Clemons turned their lifelong love of anime into a business with Kuma Rama on Oct. 5, 2024.

While continuing their accounting careers, the couple serves boba drinks and anime-themed treats alongside shelves stocked with anime collectibles, cosplay items and treasures that celebrate the vibrant world they've loved since childhood.

What's special about it? The multiconcept business brings a touch of the couple's favorite fandoms to life with anime characters, cosplay costumes and anime-inspired gifts. Kuma Rama immerses fans in Japanese pop culture while offering a cafe with various coffee and boba tea options, as well as a space where anime fans can meet and hang out, and binge-watch anime on their screens while playing board games.

Quote of note: “We have gotten close, and not just us with our customers, but between [our customers], like friendships have been made, and that's one thing that I did not expect but I am so happy about,” Gabry Clemons said.

‘Texans think of other people’: What to know as Texas approaches 25 years of daily traffic fatalities

Since Nov. 7, 2000, at least one person has died on Texas roads every day, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. As the Lone Star State nears 25 years of daily traffic deaths, officials at all levels of government are investing in new roadway safety projects and encouraging Texas drivers to do their part to curb deadly crashes.

The big picture: In the past 25 years, over 91,000 people have died on Texas roads. That is enough people to fill Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, according to TxDOT.

On average, 11 people died daily on Texas roads last year. In 2025, an average of 10 people had died per day as of Sept. 24.

Zooming in: State and local leaders found that the top factors in severe crashes include:

  • Impaired driving
  • High speeds
  • Distracted driving
  • Pedestrian and cyclist safety
  • Lack of seatbelt use
  • Roadway or lane departures
  • Wrong-way driving

Measures to combat those trends include constructing protected bike lanes and pedestrian crossings; improving roadway lighting; adding roundabouts; and reducing congestion, according to government documents.
