Early voting results show Shun Thomas leading in the Jan. 31 Plano City Council special election.

What you need to know: Thomas has received 2,416 votes, or 58.36%, leading Colleen Aguilar-Epstein in the Plano City Council Place 7 race. Aguilar-Epstein has received 1,724 votes, according to early voting totals from Collin and Denton Counties.

Previous Place 7 council member Julie Holmer announced her resignation from Plano City Council last November as she launched a campaign for Precinct 4 of the Collin County Commissioners Court. The county seat will be up for election in 2026.
