Kayak launch opens in League City

League City announced the opening of a new kayak launch next to the city's boat ramp on FM 270 earlier this spring. 

What residents should know: Located next to the League City Boat Ramp off FM 270, the city’s new kayak launch features an elevated walkway leading to a floating dock that is accessible to persons with disabilities, providing safe and convenient access to Clear Creek, according to an April social media post from the city.

Why it matters: The kayak launch expands League City’s Clear Creek Paddle Trail, which also includes kayak launches at Heritage Park, Lynn Gripon Park at Countryside and Walter Hall Park, according to the post.

One more thing: The site also includes designated parallel parking spaces along the FM 270 feeder road near the launch, according to the post.

Handcrafted herbalist, tea shop coming soon to League City

Luv Life Herbs, an herbalist shop offering medicinal tea blends, will host its grand opening later in July, owner Allison Harris said.

The backstory: After facing personal health challenges and experiencing the limitations of traditional approaches, Harris sought out advice from her grandfather who recommended herbs and plant-based living, lifestyle changes that transformed her health, according to the business' website.

More details: The shop sells herbal teas with various medicinal benefits like stress relief, hormonal balance, parasite cleanse and lung detox, according to the business website. The shop also sells natural hair and body products.

IAH to receive over $62.26M for runway rehab

George Bush Intercontinental Airport will receive more than $62.26 million in Federal Aviation Administration grants to reconstruct runways, according to a July 2 news release from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The details: The IAH investment is part of a $1.776 billion total investment in U.S. airports by the Federal Aviation Administration intended to support runway rehabilitations, family-friendly enhancements and safety upgrades.

Common Bond Coffee & Bakery

The first 713 visitors to Typhoon Texas Waterpark in Katy will be able to enjoy $7.13 admission, per a July 7 news release. There will also be select food and drink specials priced at $7.13.

Houston Zoo
Visitors at the Houston Zoo between July 11-13 can enjoy $7.13 discounted tickets to celebrate 713 Day. For interested visitors, the zoo is also offering an upgraded ticket that includes a limited edition 713 Day hat, per its website.
