Home sales see increase year over year in August in the Conroe, Montgomery area

August home sales saw an increase year over year in the Conroe and Montgomery area, according to market data provided by local real estate firm The Sawyer Realty Group.

What you need to know: Home sales increased in five of the eight ZIP codes in the Conroe and Montgomery area, with total home sales increasing 3.3% year over year in August. The median price of homes sold also increased year over year in August in five of the eight ZIP codes in the Conroe and Montgomery area. 77316 saw the largest percentage increase of 28.74%—going from $347,500 to $447,386.


Also of note: Of the homes that sold in August in Conroe and Montgomery, 43.2% of them were priced between $250,000-$499,999.

Rancho Grande Conroe Bar & Grill celebrates 35th anniversary

Rancho Grande Conroe Bar & Grill celebrated its 35th anniversary this August, founder and owner Jose Carrillo confirmed. Carrillo said the restaurant opened in 1990 and has since served Mexican cuisine favorites such as fajitas, nachos, enchiladas and burritos. 

Notable quote: “Our restaurant has always been more than just food—it has been a place to bring people together. Seeing families return year after year, watching children grow up and later come back with their own families, is the greatest reward,” Carrillo said. “This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate not only our restaurant, but also the neighborhood that has supported and sustained us for so long. It makes everything that I’ve worked hard for all of my life worth it.”

Krua Thai & Sushi: What was once occupied by the popular Thai Gourmet restaurant is now a new establishment called Krua Thai & Sushi.
Krua specializes in Thai cuisine, featuring noodle dishes and curries such as kaeng rawang, also known as green curry, and panang curry, also known as red curry. Customers can also order pineapple fried rice as well as kao soi, a curry noodle soup with chicken.

Texans have through Oct. 6 to register to vote in the Nov. 4 election

The Nov. 4 election is coming up, and so is the deadline to register to vote. Eligible Texans must register by Oct. 6 to cast votes in various local races and weigh in on 17 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution.

What to know: Texans who need to register to vote must submit a paper application. The application is available here and must be printed, signed and mailed to the election office in the voter’s county of residence.

Texas does not allow online voter registration, unless residents are updating, renewing or replacing a Texas driver’s license or ID card.

Zooming in: To be eligible to register to vote, an individual must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Reside in the county they apply to vote in
  • Be at least 18 years old by Election Day
  • Not have been declared mentally incapacitated without the right to vote by a court

Registered voters can check their voter registration status online at any time and update identifying information, such as their name and address, online through Oct. 6.
