Check out early results for the runoff race for Houston City Council, Position 4

Early, unofficial results are coming in for the runoff race for Houston City Council, Position 4.

Dwight A. Boykins and Alejandra Salinas came out victorious against a pack of 15 candidates in November to participate in a Dec. 13 runoff election for Houston City Council, Position 4. All prospects were vying for the vacant seat left behind by former council member Letitia Plummer, who resigned her position to run for Harris County Judge.

In case you missed it: Boykins and Salinas became the top two contenders after no candidates received more than 50% of the vote on Election Day. Salinas led the race with 20.88% of the vote, with Boykins close behind at 20.71% of the vote. The results sent the two candidates into the runoff.

Something to note: Houston City Council members are limited to serving two terms of four years each, with each term beginning on Jan. 2. Only five members are elected At-Large, or city-wide, while the other 11 are elected to serve geographic districts.

Keep in mind: All results are unofficial until canvassed. For more information about voting in Harris County, visit www.harrisvotes.com.
