Musical duo Brooks & Dunn and singer-songwriter Ella Langley will headline Georgetown's Two Step Inn country musical festival April 17-18, 2027.

Georgetown residents can now purchase presale tickets for the annual festival hosted at San Gabriel Park.

What you need to know: The Georgetown presale will be open for residents to get early access for the lowest price on two-day and one-day tickets until Sept. 25. Inventory is limited, according to a news release.

To purchase, you must enter a valid Georgetown ZIP code as a passcode for access and provide a valid Georgetown shipping address at checkout.

One-day tickets start at $169, while two-day packages begin at $289, according to the event website.

About the event: This year's festival will have 30 musical acts across three stages, according to the event website.

Georgetown officials are moving forward with plans to bring 16,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space to a planned second downtown parking garage at East Ninth and South Main streets.

About the project: The city is partnering with the Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool to construct the garage at the current Red Poppy surface lot. The city does not intend to directly manage retail leases, but instead solicit a development partner.

The options: City Council voted to issue a Request for Proposals or Request for Qualifications for developers. Officials discussed two ways to structure the partnership:

• The city leases the ground-floor space to a developer in a long-term agreement.

• The city creates a separate commercial condominium unit inside the garage building that a developer could purchase or manage.

The history: The city opened its first downtown parking garage in November 2025, which added 315 parking spaces to the area.

El Grandpa Mexican BBQ will be closing its Georgetown location Sunday, according to an Instagram post by the taco spot. The business will be moving to Clara’s Day Dive in South Austin on Oct. 3.

El Grandpa cooks barbacoa in the style of the Mexican state of Hidalgo, according to its website. The Instagram post announcing the closure also states “don’t worry Georgetown we will be back!”

Williamson County commissioners approved the County Clerk’s archive and restoration plan for fiscal year 2026-27 at a Sept. 15 meeting.

About the plan: The archival plan aims to transition the County Clerk's Office from paper-based permanent records to digital formats and protected physical states through scanning, indexing and encapsulation.

For FY 2026-27, the plan will focus on:

• Encapsulating and binding 60 boxes of criminal case records from the 1800s

• Preserving a few remaining books that were identified after consolidating records into a single room

• Assessing Official Public Records binders that were stored under an attic leak at the Justice Center

The budget for this year totals $1.13 million, which will also fund five staff members.

The archival department pays for record preservation using archive fees

The history: The department has been archiving and chronicling documents since 2001, according to county records.

To cast votes for a U.S. senator, governor, state attorney general and dozens of other races during the Nov. 3 midterm election, Texans must ensure they are registered to vote or have submitted an application by Oct. 5.

How it works: To be eligible to register to vote, an individual must:

• Be a U.S. citizen

• Reside in the county they apply to vote in

• Be at least 18 years old by Election Day

• Not have been declared mentally incapacitated without the right to vote by a court

Getting registered: Eligible Texans must submit a paper voter registration application by Oct. 5. The online form must be printed, signed and mailed to the applicant's local elections office.

One more thing: Voters who are already registered have through Oct. 5 to update their name or address, if needed.

Some voters may appear on the state "suspense" list if local officials cannot confirm their address, although they will still be able to vote in the election.
