Reconstruction of West Bob Jones Road in Southlake should to be complete in early September
West Bob Jones Road is being repaved in Southlake.
What's happening? The asphalt has been removed and construction took the road down to its dirt base. While the road is open to traffic, makeshift traffic patterns have been put in place.
The road work is happening between North White Chapel Boulevard and T.W. King Road and started Aug. 4, according to the city website.
City of Southlake, Texas Rangers agree to naming rights for Miracle League Field
The Miracle League Field in Southlake will be named the Texas Rangers Miracle League Field again.
What happened? During the Aug. 19 Southlake City Council meeting, a naming right and sponsorship agreement was approved between the city, the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and the Miracle League of Southlake.
The original 10-year, $100,000 naming rights agreement expired in late 2024, according to city documents. The new contract is for the same contract length and amount, running from 2025-2035, according to city documents.
Pace Golf Lounge to bring golf simulators to Trophy Club
Jordan Mittie recently moved to Roanoke and realized he was driving nearly 40 minutes to use an indoor golf simulator.
That led to his idea of Pace Golf Lounge, which garnered approval from the town of Trophy Club Council during the Aug. 25 meeting.
What's happening? Council had to approve indoor commercial amusement use and bar/tavern use in Planned Development District 13.
Mittie and his wife, Regan, looked at ideas to start a business and found an opening at the Shoppes of Trophy Club in the former location of Zoom Room.
“I’m a big golfer; I use these businesses,” Jordan Mittie said. “I was shocked that there wasn't anything close. Just knowing the golf culture up here, again, I was really surprised. We've been wanting to start a business for a while and thought this was a great opportunity here.”
Ripley's Believe It or Not! parent company buys Hawaiian Falls in Roanoke
Three Hawaiian Falls water parks, including the Roanoke location, were sold to Ripley Entertainment, the parent company of Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
The details: According to an Aug. 26 announcement from Hawaiian Falls, the three locations in Roanoke, Waco and Mansfield are all part of the acquisition.
The parks still will be open on weekends and certain dates through mid-September, according to Hawaiian Falls.
Diving deeper: Hawaiian Falls will also be adding new attractions and updates to its parks in the upcoming months to fit the new ownership, the post states.
