Grapevine-Colleyville ISD named Jason Adams as its new superintendent this summer.

Adams was named superintendent in June after the district’s board of trustees approved his contract June 15. Adams replaced interim superintendent Rick DeMasters, who stepped into the role in December 2025.

Community Impact sat down with Adams to discuss his goals for the district. Responses have been edited for length, clarity and style.

What is your vision as superintendent for Grapevine-Colleyville ISD?
Ultimately, our job is to prepare kids when they leave our system, and I think not so many years ago, that for some people that meant graduating kids and getting them to walk across that stage. Now, it means so much more than that. It means that yes we do have kids graduate [and] walk across that stage, but walk across that stage straight into a college classroom confident and well prepared to be successful and persist through college.

A new French-inspired cafe, Maman, is planning to open a location in Southlake.

The details: Construction on the new location could start in October and wrap up in January 2027, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The estimated cost of the finish out for the 2,517-square-foot coffee shop is $400,000.

What they offer: Maman’s menu includes a selection of coffees and teas, according to its website. Customers can also order pastries, sandwiches and salads.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is seeing an uptick in premium lounges in Terminals C and D and the still-under-construction Terminal F.

“We continue to advance one of the nation's most comprehensive premium lounge portfolios, with more than 20 existing spaces and a planned 45% expansion in total lounge space over the next few years,” DFW Airport CEO Scott McLaughlin said at the Aug. 6 board meeting.

1. American Airlines
Fort Worth-based American Airlines plans to open its largest Admirals Club lounge within Terminal C at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, according to a news release.
The airline also plans to include a grab-and-go option inside the initial phase of Terminal F, which is expected to open next year.

2. American Express
American Express will expand its Centurion Lounge at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in Terminal D.
The $35 million project, according to a state filing, will expand and renovate the lounge into a neighboring vacant space near Gate D12.

1. SH 170 spur
Project: The project, which was first presented in 2024, would connect Intermodal Parkway to Old Denton Road. A new elevated bridge, 1.4 miles in length, would be constructed from the main lanes east of I-35W to Intermodal Parkway, with associated roadway on either side, for a total project of 2.4 miles.
Update: Public hearings for the project were held in person and virtually July 28 to gather public input. Schematic design and environmental work would start in the spring of 2027, according to a news release. ​​​​​​
