Tequila in Paradise
Margaritaville Lake Resort at Lake Conroe will be celebrating National Tequila Day on July 24. The event will feature tastings from multiple tequila brands across the world, along with all-day margaritas.

Great Book Giveaway
On July 25, CISD students will have the opportunity to take home a book for their own personal library. The event will have other fun activities, including creating your own bookmark, free popsicles and a splash pad. The event is open to all CISD students from grades pre-K through 12.

Home sales see increase in June in Conroe, Montgomery

Home sales rose year over year in June in the Conroe and Montgomery area, according to market data provided by Tammy Sohl at JLA Realty.

What you need to know: In four of the eight ZIP codes in the Conroe and Montgomery area, home sales increased, with total home sales rising 17.5% year over year in June.

What else: The median price of homes sold year over year in June decreased in five of the eight ZIP codes in the Conroe and Montgomery area. 77304 saw the largest percentage decrease of 0.67%—going from $395,000 to $356,790.

One more thing: Of the homes that sold in June in Conroe and Montgomery, 54.2% were priced between $250,000-$499,999.

Tropical storm watches in effect for Texas coast as Bertha path shifts

Officials with the National Weather Service issued tropical storm watches for portions of southeast Texas as Tropical Storm Bertha is expected to make landfall by the end of the week.

What we know: Tropical Storm Bertha maintained strength overnight according to data from the NWS, but is still expected to not strengthen beyond a tropical storm before making landfall across Louisiana and Texas. However, officials said the storm itself should not cause significant impact to the region.

NWS officials urged residents along the coast in Brazoria, Chambers and Galveston counties to continue any storm preparations before Bertha makes landfall. The storm watch along the Texas coast is in effect until 6 a.m. July 24 unless it is extended.

In their words: "Bertha will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms through the day, but the threat for excessive rainfall/flash flooding is marginal," NWS officials said in a July 22 news release. "While there is not a storm surge risk, there is a threat of minor coastal flooding."
