$750M Haggard Farm development moves forward with new townhomes

Plans for new townhomes at the corner of Spring Creek Parkway and Windhaven Parkway are moving forward.

What happened: At their Jan. 5 meeting, Plano Planning and Zoning commissioners approved a preliminary plat for 187 single-family residential townhomes and five common area lots. Commissioners had previously approved a preliminary site plan in June. 

Zooming out: The townhomes are part of the broader Haggard Farm mixed-use development, which is being developed by Stillwalter Capital. Construction on the first phase of the $750 million project began in mid-December, according to a city news release. The first phase of Haggard Farm is planned to feature 100,000 square feet of retail space, 350 residential units, over 100 townhomes, hike-and-bike trails and a park.

Salad and Go closing all Texas locations Jan. 11

Salad and Go will close all of its locations in Texas and Oklahoma on Jan. 11, the company confirmed on social media.

The specifics: Salad and Go is a drive-thru chain offering salads, wraps and soups. The company is closing all 25 of its remaining Texas locations.

The context: Salad and Go already closed multiple Texas stores in September, including all of their locations in Houston and San Antonio.

Urban Egg offers brunch and more in Plano

Urban Egg opened at 2408 Preston Road, Ste. 704C, Plano, on Dec. 15. The Colorado-based concept serves breakfast, brunch and lunch featuring an all-scratch menu.

Breakfast classics include chicken and waffle benedict, house-made cinnamon rolls, gourmet pancakes with gluten-free options and egg dishes.

Locally owned Cajun Fish Grill serves made-from-scratch recipes in McKinney

Restaurateur and chef Miguel Mercado opened Cajun Fish Grill in 2024. He co-owns the business with his wife and two sons.

The menu boasts Cajun cuisine staples including a variety of blackened fish filets, jambalaya, étouffée and more. Top-selling menu items are fried catfish, the fried shrimp po’ boy and the Tricky Fish, which is a grilled blackened catfish served over rice and topped with crawfish étouffée.

Oak & Stone to debut 1st Texas restaurant, serve artisan pizzas in McKinney

Oak & Stone, an tavern-style restaurant specializing in pizza and craft beer, is opening soon at the West Grove development in McKinney.

The gist: It will be the restaurant brand’s first location to open in Texas, according to a news release. Oak & Stone offers menus for lunch and dinner as well as brunch, according to its website. Its menu includes artisan pizzas, wings, salads and sandwiches.
