Chubby’s Barbershop finds new downtown Bastrop home

Chubby’s Barbershop has relocated from 901 Main St. to a new downtown Bastrop location on Water Street.

"The timing couldn’t have been more perfect," owner Christopher "Chubby" Higgins said. "My team loves the new space, our clients love the parking and the atmosphere, and honestly, we haven’t missed a beat."

What happened: Higgins said the move was necessary after he received notice to vacate the barbershop’s previous space because of a planned change in the property’s use by the city.

What they offer: The Black-owned, family-friendly barbershop offers haircuts, beard sculpting and hot towel services for men, women and children.

Notable quote: "I’m just excited about what the future holds for Chubby’s Barbershop," Higgins said. "Sometimes things don’t work out the way you planned, but they end up working out exactly how they’re supposed to."
