McKinney P&Z recommends zoning approval for apartments near SH 121
🏗️ A zoning case for new apartments just north of SH 121 in McKinney is heading to McKinney City Council in October.
McKinney’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted to recommend approval of the zoning request during a Sept. 23 meeting. The commission’s recommendation will be forwarded to McKinney City Council for final action Oct. 21.
The overview: The applicant, Endeavor Real Estate Group, is proposing new zoning on 10.9 acres of land to allow for multifamily residential uses, according to a city document. The land is located near the intersection of McKinney Ranch Parkway and Collin McKinney parkway.
Endeavor officials are also seeking two modifications to McKinney’s typical development standards for multifamily development:
A reduction in adjacency landscape buffer from 20 feet to 5 feet on the east and west sides of the property
An increase in maximum density from 30 units per acre to 31 units per acre
The details: The property is currently zoned for single-family residential uses and is located south of another single-family neighborhood.
Staffing agency Temps of McKinney to relocate within McKinney
🏢 Temps of McKinney is set to relocate to a new office space, a representative of the business confirmed.
The gist: The business offers temporary employment services for candidates and businesses in McKinney and Collin County. Its office has been located at 500 W. University Dr., Ste. 102, for more than 40 years. The relocation is prompted by a planned redevelopment of the business’s current location into a fuel station.

Texans have through Oct. 6 to register to vote in the Nov. 4 election
🗳️ The Nov. 4 election is coming up, and so is the deadline to register to vote. Eligible Texans must register by Oct. 6 to cast votes in various local races and weigh in on 17 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution.
What to know: Texans who need to register to vote must submit a paper application. The application is available here and must be printed, signed and mailed to the election office in the voter’s county of residence.
Texas does not allow online voter registration, unless residents are updating, renewing or replacing a Texas driver’s license or ID card.
Zooming in: To be eligible to register to vote, an individual must:
Be a U.S. citizen
Reside in the county they apply to vote in
Be at least 18 years old by Election Day
Not have been declared mentally incapacitated without the right to vote by a court
Registered voters can check their voter registration status online at any time and update identifying information, such as their name and address, online through Oct. 6.
