LanDreaux's Creole & Cajun Seafood now open in Humble following name change

The Humble eatery formerly known as Landry's Creole & Cajun Seafood changed its name to LanDreaux's Creole & Cajun Seafood, owner Andrew Landry confirmed in a May 13 post on the business’s Facebook page.

The details: Landry said the name change is coming after copyright issues were raised over the restaurant’s previous name.

“Recently, we were contacted by a large corporate restaurant group regarding the use of our name,” Landry said in the post. “The name ‘Landry’s’ was never chosen to mislead anyone or ride the success of another company. It is my actual family name.”

Landry noted the name change went into effect May 13, according to the post.

On the menu: Landry, who previously owned Juicy Heads & Spicy Tails in Humble, said LanDreaux's Creole & Cajun Seafood offers a variety of Cajun cuisine, including seafood gumbo, fried fish, red beans and rice, crawfish and seasoned Cajun seafood.

Houston Public Works to come back with success metrics of new $5 fee

Houston residents will get a better understanding of how the new $5 administration fee for trash collection will be implemented in the coming weeks.

What this means: On May 18, Houston Public Works Director Randall Macchi presented the department’s fiscal year 2026-27 budget, which will absorb the Solid Waste Management department.

During the presentation, Macchi showed key performance indicators, which would use metrics to measure HPW’s success. Macchi added that the initial KPIs are output-based, rather than outcome-based.
KPIs for solid waste management are:

  • Tons of heavy trash collected: 230,000

  • Average number of weekly curbside recycling stops: 165,500

  • Total drop-offs at waste collection sites: 67,000

  • Tons of tree and yard waste collected: 18,300

  • Total number of containers replaced or repaired: 19,200

“We’re going to come back to council within the next 60 days with some refined KPIs that are much more specific,” Macchi said.
