The Comal ISD board of trustees unanimously voted to move forward with a bond election during their Aug. 4 meeting.

What you need to know: The $567 million bond, made up of two propositions, will be weighed by district voters in November. Proposition A, which costs $539.95 million, will fund facilities, land and buses, and Proposition B, which costs $27.04 million, will fund classroom technology. Both propositions can be financed through the district's current tax rate of $0.35 per $100 of taxable value, according to a district news release.

The bond amount was determined after a year of discussion by Comal Forward, a 61-member planning committee composed of parents, community members, staff and students.

What happens next? The last day to register to vote is Oct. 5. Early voting will be held Oct. 19-30. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, and polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

A local live music venue and bar has rebranded near the Gruene Historic District.

The Villa rebranded to Duesy's Tavern on July 31, Owner Casey Frank told Community Impact. Along with the name change, the space is also undergoing a renovation to the front of the building.

What you need to know: Frank said she decided to change the name and rebrand after deciding that The Villa didn't fit the aesthetic of the space anymore.

"We kind of wanted a detachment from The Villa because we've outgrown the name in the best way possible," Frank said.

Frank said she wanted to renovate the front of the building alongside the new name and brand to make the space more inviting. Duesy's Tavern will offer the same events and amenities at The Villa. There will also be several new TV's for games and upgrades to the audio-visual system.

Kyle-area residents will soon have a new 40,000-square-foot fitness center to utilize.

The details: Other amenities that will be found at the location include the MOVEōS Cinema, a cardio theater where members can watch big-screen movies while working out, and The Set, a dedicated camera-friendly space. Membership options will begin at $9.99 per month, according to EōS representatives.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport officials announced in a July 29 news release that the airport recorded its busiest month ever for passenger traffic in June, servicing 2,102,853 departing and arriving passengers.

The details: Per the release, AUS' passenger traffic growth for June 2026 was up 4.4% compared to June 2025. Data also shows that Southwest Airlines saw the most passenger traffic in June with with 916,510 passengers served, up 10.9% year-over-year. While JetBlue Airways only serviced 26,929 passengers, it had the highest year-over-year passenger increase at 241.7%. The number of Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa, Copa Airlines and VivaAerobus passengers were also up year-over-year, while American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Allegiant Air, Air Canada, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Aeromexico and Sun Country Airlines saw a decrease in passengers year-over-year. WestJet had the highest dip with 2,104 passengers, down 44%.

In case you missed it: Along with ongoing multi-year expansion efforts which includes terminal and airfield infrastructure work, the airport has launched several new airline routes and accessibility initiatives in recent months.
