New flights and roadwork: 4 updates from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

New flights and destinations from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport started in early October from EVA Air and Frontier Airlines. In addition, construction projects that are part of DFW Forward continue. Check out this list of four updates from the airport.

1. EVA Air holds a ceremony for inaugural flight: EVA Air held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 3 with dignitaries from the airline, the airport and the city of Fort Worth for a new flight between Dallas and Taiwan.

2. Roadwork continues at DFW Airport: Crews from Mario Sinacola & Sons Excavating Inc. have started to pave portions of the East West Connector project. The 1.65-mile roadway will extend Rental Car Drive from International Parkway to SH 360.

Meow Wolf Grapevine to debut new experience with live performers in November

Meow Wolf in Grapevine is premiering Phenomenomaly, a performance with live actors, dancers, musicians and giant puppets to tell the story of the migrating flickerwerm, a creature created by Meow Wolf, according to a news release from Meow Wolf.

The details: The new exhibition will begin Nov. 15 and will run Fridays-Sundays from 1-6 p.m. inside Meow Wolf’s The Real Unreal exhibit, per the release. The performance series will stop showing after Jan. 4.

Quote of note: “Phenomenomaly invites our guests to become part of a story as it unfolds live,” Meow Wolf Grapevine General Manager Jamie Weaver-Garia said in the release. “You explore, you play, and you meet a cast of strange and friendly characters who bring this place to life."

Hudson House to bring East Coast-inspired dishes, drinks to Southlake

Hudson House is set to open in Southlake in 2026.

The East Coach-inspired restaurant concept offers classic American comfort dishes and the “world’s coldest martini,” according to a news release.

What’s happening? Hudson House, operated by Vandelay Hospitality Group, will move into the spot vacated by RA Sushi, which closed inside the Park Village shopping center. According to the website, this will be the 11th Dallas-Fort Worth location since opening in 2017. The restaurant will feature a wraparound bar, outdoor patio, leather booths and a full oyster bar, according to a news release.

UNT partners with North Texas colleges to launch new workforce development plan

University of North Texas President Harrison Keller announced the Texas Talent Accelerator, a program designed to better develop and match workforce talent with employers, during a Sept. 4 panel event at UNT’s Frisco Campus.

In a nutshell: The Accelerator aims to optimize education and job training to meet labor demands in the growing North Texas economy, Keller said.

“We have rising sectors in financial services, supply chain and logistics, healthcare, film and entertainment,” Keller said. “We have the most top-tier higher education institutions of any of the metro areas. ... We have all the pieces of the puzzle, but we need to connect them more strategically.”

Check out these new restaurants and bars opening across the Dallas - Fort Worth area.

The former owners of Morning Edition Cafe in Flower Mound have opened Daytrip Diner in Grapevine, moving into the former location of Waffle Way.

Daytrip Diner is open daily from 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The breakfast menu includes items such as corned beef hash and eggs, chicken fried steak and eggs, pancake, skillets and more. For lunch, offerings include salads, sandwiches and cheeseburgers.

Enea's Pizzeria is now serving New York-style pizza in Roanoke.

The pizzeria serves big slices made with fresh ingredients and hand-tossed dough, owner Edmond Gjekaj saidPizza options include BBQ chicken, margarita, eggplant pizza, veggie, meat lovers and alfredo.

The restaurant also serves calzones, garlic knots, mozzarella sticks, wings, salads, sub sandwiches and chocolate cannoli, according to its website.
