There is something for everyone at these 10 upcoming Austin area events. Locals can catch a fireworks show at Auditorium Shores, learn about sustainability at the city’s Zero Waste Resource Fair or bake pizza dough at Over The Top Cake Supplies.

Austin Symphony Fourth of July Concert and Fireworks
Locals can visit Auditorium Shores for food trucks, activities, market vendors, live entertainment and fireworks to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Cedar Sparktacular
Cedar Park's annual Fourth of July celebration features live music, carnival rides, inflatables, food trucks and a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m., followed by an outdoor movie screening. The city recommends Cedar Park High School, Cedar Park Middle School or Austin Community College for parking as there is no on-site parking.

Yuki Handroll Bar offers an intimate, immersive sushi experience in Austin, bringing Austinites an authentic omakase-style Japanese menu.

The backstory: The first Yuki Handroll Bar—a collaboration between Lim and Chef Jun—launched in June 2023 in Westlake, with a second expansion the following year at Four Points. The restaurants have nearly the same menu, with the Four Points location featuring additional hot dishes and classic sushi rolls to accommodate a more family-oriented clientele, Lim explained. 

On the menu: True to its name, the bar offers a selection of handrolls made with bluefin tuna, salmon and yellowtail. The restaurant receives shipments of fish three or more times per week from Japan, Korea, Mexico and Spain. 

Another detail: As the first handroll bar in Austin, Lim wanted to bring a unique restaurant experience to locals where they could be part of the process and have a front-row seat to their meal’s preparation.

As the 2026-27 school year nears, the number of people selected to participate in Texas’ education savings account program has topped 100,000.

The overview: To date, just over 102,000 students have been accepted into the Texas Education Freedom Accounts program, which gives families state funds to send their children to private schools or homeschool them.

However, being awarded funds does not mean a student is guaranteed to be able to use that money at a participating private school this fall.

Zooming in: Over 2,600 private schools have been approved to accept TEFA funding, per the state comptroller's office. State law does not require schools participating in the program to accept all interested families.

Next steps: Families accepted into the program have until July 15 to do one of the following:

• Confirm enrollment at a private school involved in the program
• Notify the state of their homeschooling plans
• Opt out of the program
