Hunt Sports Development has partnered with Peak Curated Development and Venu Holding Corporation to develop a mixed-use district on the east side of Toyota Stadium and Soccer Center in Frisco.

What we know: The first phase of the planned project will feature an approximately 290-room boutique hotel and more than 40,000 square feet of convention, event and meeting space.

The mixed-use development’s “highly flexible” convention center will feature more than 25,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 15,000-square-foot ballroom that can be converted into a music hall or live entertainment venue with capacity for up to 3,000 people.

The mixed-use district accounts for more than $1 billion in private investment and could funnel visitors and revenue into Frisco’s Rail District and support small businesses, city officials previously said.

The development is slated for groundbreaking in 2027.

Dar Coffee opened its second North Texas location in Frisco June 26.

The details: Dar Coffee offers a variety of lattes, pour-over coffee, specialty tea and matcha drinks, hot chocolate, baked goods, wraps and salads. Also available are bagged coffee blends.

Two additional locations have been planned for Denton and Wylie, according to the company website.

Denton County voters will choose between two candidates for the Denton County Commissioners Court, Precinct 4 seat, which will be on the Nov. 3 general election ballot.

What you need to know: The candidates running for the position are Stephanie Draper and David Wylie. In the March Republican primary election, Wylie won the race against three other candidates, including incumbent Dianne Edmondson, according to previous reporting. Draper was unopposed in the Democratic primary election.

Candidates were asked to keep responses within 50 words, answer the questions provided and avoid attacking opponents. Answers may have been edited or cut to adhere to those guidelines, or for style and clarity. Candidates are listed in alphabetical order by last name.

What else? Oct. 5 is the last day for residents to register to vote, according to the Texas Secretary of State website. Early voting will take place from Oct. 19-30.

1. Lake Forest Senior Living in McKinney

A 222-unit senior living development will be constructed in McKinney, per a TDLR filing. The project will include three apartment buildings, with one building to have a clubhouse. The site is also planned to have four garage buildings. McKinney City Council approved a zoning request for the project at a meeting May 19, per previous reporting.

2. Plano East Senior High School renovations

Two new 15,000 square-foot corridors will be under construction for Plano East Senior High School to connect renovated areas with the rest of the school, per a TDLR filing. The school received renovations funded by Plano ISD’s 2022 bond, according to previous reporting, which included two new gyms and heating, ventilation, air conditioning and restroom repairs.

• Estimated cost: $14.5 million

To cast votes for a U.S. senator, governor, state attorney general and dozens of other races during the Nov. 3 midterm election, Texans must ensure they are registered to vote or have submitted an application by Oct. 5.

How it works: To be eligible to register to vote, an individual must:

• Be a U.S. citizen

• Reside in the county they apply to vote in

• Be at least 18 years old by Election Day

• Not have been declared mentally incapacitated without the right to vote by a court

Getting registered: Eligible Texans must submit a paper voter registration application by Oct. 5. The online form must be printed, signed and mailed to the applicant's local elections office.

One more thing: Voters who are already registered have through Oct. 5 to update their name or address, if needed.

Some voters may appear on the state "suspense" list if local officials cannot confirm their address, although they will still be able to vote in the election.
