Construction of Bastrop County’s upcoming Waterloo Solar farm is steadily progressing—a project that spans two sites nearly 10 miles from one another.
The details: Kellie Woods, the senior manager of external communications for RWE Energy confirmed with Community Impact that crews are actively working from locations on opposite sides of Hwy. 71, including:
- Waterloo Solar-North, 294 Berdoll Lane, Cedar Creek
- Waterloo Solar-South, FM 535, Del Valle
Some background: RWE Clean Energy, a German-based company focused on renewable energy, began construction of the 200-megawatt facility—which totals approximately 900 acres—in March, as previously reported by Community Impact.
The outlook: The Waterloo Solar farm—which is projected to produce about $2 million in annual tax revenue and approximately $49 million over 40 years—is expected to come online in late 2027, according to RWE Energy officials.
