Celina officials anticipate February opening for Downtown Center

City officials are preparing to open Celina’s Downtown Center early next year.

The details: Officials expect the Downtown Center to open in February 2027, City Manager Robert Ranc said.

In a nutshell: The $59 million Downtown Center will house the city services currently located in City Hall on Ohio Drive, including administrative offices and the Celina Public Library, according to previous reporting.

The update: Structural concrete work on the Downtown Center is complete, and crews are moving onto exterior framing, stair installation and utility tie-ins, according to the city’s social media.

In case you missed it: Construction on the first phase of the project, which focused on the center’s parking garage, wrapped up in December, per prior reporting.

Chipotle opens first Celina location

Chipotle Mexican Grill is open in Celina, the company confirmed in a news release.

Check it out: The location on Preston Road features a Chipotlane, a drive-thru lane for customers picking up digital orders, according to the release.

Six Flags Over Texas 'Tormenta Rampaging Run' to now open July 9

Six Flags Over Texas has announced the new opening date for its first “giga dive coaster as July 9.

The new coaster was originally scheduled to open June 26, but was postponed because commissioning and test taking took longer than expected, per previous reporting.

The details: The Tormenta Rampaging Run reaches 309 feet above ground and has a 285-foot drop, according to the Six Flags website. Riders will be going at 87 miles-per-hour on a ride spanning more than four thousand feet.

TDLR documents show Train 4 Tomorrow, a gym in Richardson that offers fitness classes and personal training will convert an office building on Twilight Trail into a gym. The conversion will cost about $18.39 million and start in mid-July, per TDLR documents.

Walmart renovations
The Walmart location on Richland Boulevard in Prosper will undergo three months of renovations starting in January, TDLR documents state. The renovations include reconfiguring the sales floor and remodeling the store’s interior and exterior.
