Huggins Drive reconstruction: The road will gain a center lane as well as a road extension from its end at Houston Street to FM 359.

Katy downtown parking lots: The Second Street project will replace the current asphalt and gravel lot with concrete to the northwest corner of Second Street and Avenue A. Meanwhile, the Municipal Court parking project will expand the lot by 42 spaces and add security measures.
  • Timeline: December 2025-April 2026
  • Cost: $651,725 (Second Street) and $361,690 (Municipal Court)
  • Funding source: city of Katy

Westpark Tollway expansion: The Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority is expanding Westpark Tollway an additional 4 miles, bringing its new end to Charger Way.
  • Timeline: August 2024-fall 2026
  • Cost: $72 million
  • Funding source: toll revenue

Crust Pizza Co. opens new location in Jordan Ranch

The Woodlands-based Crust Pizza Co. has opened a new location in Jordan Ranch.

On the menu: The Chicago-inspired eatery offers thin-crust pizzas, calzones, pastas, salads, sandwiches and desserts, per its website.

Zooming out: The pizza shop has 37 locations with three nearby in the Katy area including locations in Katy Park, Cinco Ranch and Elyson, per its website.

Houston Methodist Cancer Center names Dr. Daniela Matei as next director

Cancer Clinician and Translational Scientist Dr. Daniela Matei will become the next director of the Houston Methodist Dr. Mary and Ron Neal Cancer Center following a national search, Houston Methodist officials announced in a Feb. 27 news release.

The details: Currently chief of the Division of Reproductive Science in Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Matei is an expert in ovarian cancer treatment and research, per the release.

What they’re saying: Chang said Matei’s vision will “enhance the momentum of our research enterprise and support our shared goal of turning scientific innovation into real-world impact for patients.”

What’s next? Matei will begin her role as director in April, per the release.
