UPDATE: Republicans Wylie, Roehrs force runoff race for Denton County Commissioners Court seat

David Wylie and Valerie Roehrs will head to a runoff election to earn the Republican candidacy for Denton County Commissioners Court, Precinct 4 seat.

The details: With all Denton County precincts reporting, Wylie garnered 9,147 votes, or 36.86% of the votes cast. Roehrs had 5,750 votes, which is 23.17% of the ballots.

Gerard Hudspeth was less than 250 votes behind Roehrs with 5,536, or 22.31, and incumbent Dianne Edmondson has 4,381, or 17.66%

Because none of the candidates earned at least 50% of the votes, the race will go to a runoff race for the top-two candidates who had the most votes. Wylie and Roehrs will face off May 26.

What’s next? The winner of the Republican primary will be on the ballot against the Democratic candidate in the November election. The winner of that election will be sworn in for a four-year term in January 2027.

All results are unofficial until canvassed.
