Take a look at the 2026-27 Denton ISD graduation dates

Denton ISD announced the graduation dates for its four comprehensive high schools, LaGrone Academy and Fred Moore High School on its Facebook page at the beginning of October, along with other end-of-year information.

The details

The 2026-27 school year will conclude May 27 with early releases on May 26 and May 27, according to the district calendar.

Five of the six schools will have their May graduations at the University of North Texas’s Coliseum. Ryan High School and Guyer High School students will graduate May 27, and LaGrone Academy, Braswell High School and Denton High School students graduate May 28.

Fred Moore High School students will graduate at the Denton High School Fine Arts Center on Denton High School's campus May 26. The school will also host a winter graduation Dec. 16 at the same location.

Glo Xtreme All-Star Cheer & Dance opens at Golden Triangle Mall

A new locally owned cheer and dance studio is now open in Denton. Glo Xtreme All-Star Cheer & Dance opened Aug. 10 inside Golden Triangle Mall, next to Dillard's.

The studio offers recreational and competitive programs for athletes of all ages and experience levels. Classes are available for toddlers through teens, with recreational and competitive tracks available as athletes grow. The studio offers classes in:

  • Tumbling
  • Acro
  • Ballet
  • Jazz
  • Lyrical
  • Tap
  • Dance technique

According to the website, the studio includes professional dance flooring, a fully matted cheer and tumbling space, a locker area, a study lounge and a lobby with seating and live camera views. The new business is located at 2201 S. I-35 E. in Denton.

Texas lawmakers question benefits of 4-day school weeks ahead of 2027 legislative session

In 2015, the Texas Legislature passed a law changing the amount of time students are required to spend in public schools from 180 days to 75,600 minutes per school year.

More than a decade later, some state senators are considering again mandating the number of days schools are open, citing concerns about student performance in districts that use condensed weekly schedules.

The details: At least 181 districts and 572 campuses used four-day school weeks in the 2024-25 school year, per Texas Education Agency data.

A TEA study found that during the 2022-23 school year, students attending school four days per week had lower performance in certain subjects on the annual State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness than students at five-day schools.

"There is not a benefit that I see for a four-day school week for the child," Sen. Donna Campbell, R-New Braunfels, said. "We know there's learning loss. What is the advantage of a four-day [week]? Because I see none except to please somebody who wants to be off more days."
