More than just pancakes: How Brunch at Lili’s is building a future in Frisco

Owners Bekim Miftari and Louie Kerimi opened Brunch at Lili’s in 2024 to support Kerimi’s daughter, Lili Kerimi.

The background: Lydia Miftari, Bekim’s wife, shared that the family keeps their motivation in mind at work each day.

“Every day when we drive up, we're here for Lili," Miftari said. “Every business has its ups and downs, no matter what industry you're in, and it just makes it a little bit sweeter when you know that that's what you're working towards.”

Must try menu items: One of the most popular dishes at Brunch at Lili’s is the cannoli pancakes.

The dish consists of buttermilk pancakes stuffed with cannoli cream and sprinkled with cannoli shells.

Momo2Go offers 100% halal Himalayan cuisine in Frisco

Momo2Go, a 100% halal Nepali and Himalayan-style dumpling restaurant, has opened a new restaurant in Frisco. 

The details: The Frisco restaurant marks Momo2Go’s second North Texas location following a July 22 grand opening. Momo2Go was founded in 2016 as a sister brand to Himalayan Kitchen, starting as a Canadian restaurant concept before expanding to the United States. 

The menu features a variety of Himalayan street food inspired dishes including handcrafted dumplings, noodle dishes, rice bowls, schezwan gravy dishes, paneer dishes and dessert dishes like gulab jamun.

North Texas Irish Festival will relocate to Denton from Dallas in 2027

The North Texas Irish Festival will move to Denton from Dallas in 2027, according to a news release from the organization.

The details: The festival will be held at the North Texas Fairgrounds, the location of the North Texas Fair & Rodeo, from March 13-14, according to the release. 

The festival celebrates Irish and Celtic music, dance and culture and includes events and entertainment such as live music, dance shows, storytelling, food, education and art exhibits.

The 2027 event will have multiple stages for live music, Irish step dancing performances, cultural demonstrations, historic storytelling, vendor and shopping opportunities, activities for children and authentic food and beverages, the release states.

The backstory: The North Texas Irish Festival started in 1983 and has been located in Fair Park in Dallas since 1984, according to the organization’s website. It is produced by the Southwest Celtic Music Association, a Dallas-based nonprofit.

DFW Restaurant Week celebrates 30th anniversary

More than 150 restaurants throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area will take part in the 30th annual DFW Restaurant Week.

The event officially runs from Aug. 10 to Sept. 7; however, some restaurants will do a preview weekend Aug. 6-9, according to the DFW Restaurant Week website.

The culinary event will feature prix fixe menu dining options ranging from $29 to $99, with 20% of the cost donated to the North Texas Food Bank or Lena Pope in Tarrant County.

Hocco The Indian Kitchen now open in Frisco

Hocco The Indian Kitchen opened in May off Preston Road in Frisco.

A company representative said in an email that the restaurant aims to bring “the authentic flavors of India to the United States through a modern fast-casual dining experience.”

Hocco is backed by the Chona family, “one of India's most respected names in the food industry, whose journey began eight decades ago and has grown across three generations of serving exceptional food with uncompromising quality,” the representative said. The brand has grown and diversified to include restaurants, cafes, ice creams and ready-to-eat foods to serve customers across the globe.
