The White Canvas Event Venue opened Sept. 28 in the Cypress area, owner Rocio Baldelomar confirmed. Located at 16718 House Hahl Road, Ste. E, the venue hosts weddings, birthday parties, baby showers, milestones, business events and other celebrations.

Designed to be a bright, elegant and flexible space, the venue features the following amenities:

• Chandeliers, wall sconces and dimmable lighting

• Round tables, white Chiavari chairs and white linens

• A prep kitchen

• A private suite

• Optional décor pieces

Two facility renovation projects at Lone Star College System campuses are scheduled to kick off in 2027 after the college system’s board of trustees voted to push the projects to the next stage on Oct. 1.

Upcoming projects

1. Empowerment Center relocation, remodel

Project: LSC-Cy-Fair’s Empowerment Center—a food and clothing pantry for students in need—will be moved from separate locations in the CASA building to the Technology Center.

• Timeline: January 2027-May 2027

• Cost: $417,000 (construction)

2. LSC-Kingwood flood repairs

Project: Flood damage at LSC-Kingwood caused by Hurricane Harvey in 2017 will be repaired, according to Oct. 1 meeting documents. The project has been delayed while awaiting approval from state and federal agencies.

• Timeline: summer 2027-summer 2029

• Cost: $1,011,293 (architectural services)

Six pumpkin patches are open for the fall season in and around the Cypress and Cy-Fair area:

• Cypress Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch is open Oct. 1-31 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with free admission. Proceeds support local missions and community events.

• Good Shepherd Methodist Church is open Oct. 4-31 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with free admission. Pumpkin proceeds benefit Boys & Girls Country of Houston and Camp Hope.

• Harvest Season Farm is open Saturdays and Sundays in October from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 and free for kids under 10.

• Old Time Christmas Tree Farm is open Oct. 1-Nov. 1 on Thursdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $10 and free for kids under 2.

• Rosehill Pumpkin Patch is open Sept. 26-Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free Monday through Thursday, and $5 for ages 13 and older Friday through Sunday.
