Two Step Farm is moving ahead with the second phase of its Montgomery County development, bringing seven builders, new housing styles and a direct connector to FM 1488.

The details: Oxland Group announced July 20 that it has started homesite sales for the 156-acre development as part of Phase 2. Homesites are expected to be delivered to builders beginning in December, with construction starting shortly afterward, according to a July 20 news release.

What we know: Homes in Phase 2 are anticipated to range from the mid-$300,000s to more than $1 million. 
The new developer lineup includes:

• Autograph Homes
• David Weekley Homes, offering patio homes
• Drees Custom Homes, offering detached townhomes
• McKinley Homes, offering townhomes
• Partners In Building
• Trilogy by Shea Homes, developing a 55-plus village
• William David Homes, offering cottages and homes on 70- and 90-foot lots

Benny & Hash officials said the eatery held its soft opening on July 14 and is now offering breakfast and lunch in Montgomery.

On the menu: For breakfast, the eatery offers traditional breakfast options including omelets, pancake dishes and breakfast tacos.
Other dishes offered include:

• Big foot: Made with two eggs your way, barbecue pork ribs, bacon, smoked sausage, choice of toast and breakfast side
• Chilaquiles: Corn tortilla chips, tomatillo salsa, rotisserie chicken, two eggs your way, pickled onion, sour cream and cilantro

Founded over 20 years ago, the Lone Star College Academy for Lifelong Learning program offers free and low-cost classes, events and activities for adults age 50 and older taught by volunteer teachers.

About the program: Founded at the Montgomery campus in 2000, Duval said other campuses soon followed and began offering the Academy for Lifelong Learning program at the Cy-Fair, Kingwood and North Harris campuses in 2004. Later expanding to other campuses, the program has remained an influential opportunity for seniors who want to continue expanding their skills.

With over 23 categories of courses offered, Duval said art, history and culinary classes are among the most popular.

Quote of note: “Once you're retired, a lot of people just don't know what else to do. They don't know where to go to hang out, or they lose contact with some of their friends who are still working,” Duval said. “So our goal is to keep them active and help them make new friends and keep them engaged with other people who have similar interests.”

Taking place from Aug. 24-30, theater fanatics can score exclusive deals on live performances in the city, including opera, music and dance performances, per a July 16 release.
