Ground has broken on a new seven-story apartment complex in East Austin with nearly 400 units, including 10% reserved for lower-income tenants.

The details: The Martin from OHT Partners is located on just over 3 acres at 2730 E. Seventh St., Austin. The developer said the project, geared toward working young professionals, and is situated "in the heart of one of Austin’s most dynamic growth corridors" with easy access to nearby commercial spaces and Parque Zaragoza Neighborhood Park next door.

The complex features a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 550 to 1,440 square feet. Units will all have private balconies or yards, built-in desks and high-quality interior features. Residents will also have access to a range of amenities around the community including a courtyard and pool area, fitness and wellness centers, dog park, and golf simulator and podcasting rooms.

Construction is expected to wrap up in late 2028.

Residential developer The Muskin Company has begun selling the second phase of its Sorin Row Homes project in the Mueller neighborhood, as the master-planned community moves closer to its final build-out.

The details: The luxury row homes at 3000 Sorin St. feature a mix of three- and four-bedroom units ranging from 1,750 to 2,164 square feet. The residences offer flexible floor plans, and half include accessory dwelling units, or ADUs.

The row homes are being designed by architect Clayton Korte, while studio Slic Design is handling interiors. Home features include skylights, metal roofing, oak wood flooring, polished concrete handcrafted tile, custom cabinetry, and Bosch appliances and quartz countertops with waterfall features. Residences also have front porches and back patios equipped with gas hookups. 

The new row homes are priced between $899,000-$1.1 million, and the project is expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2026.

National MS Society officials are hopeful the 42nd annual Texas MS 150 will generate about $11.3 million for multiple sclerosis initiatives, turning a weekend ride into the organization’s largest fundraising effort of the year.

The details: Emily Garcia, the assistant vice president of Endurance Events for the National MS Society, told Community Impact the Texas MS 150—which will run April 25-26—is historically the top fundraising event for the National MS Society. 

“There are 49 other bike events that are happening around the country, and ours is the largest by more than double,” she said. “The wonderful thing about our event is that we engage communities all across Texas.”

Travis County voters will cast ballots March 3 in favor of a county official to oversee Precinct 2.

The big picture: Members of the Travis County Commissioners Court are elected to four-year terms with no state-imposed limits. The court consists of four commissioners and the county judge. Precinct 2 includes portions of northwest and central Austin.

During the primary election, voters choose their party’s nominee in Democratic or Republican races. In Travis County, the races are contested only on the Democratic primary ballot.
