In November 2023, Hutto ISD voters approved $522 million in bonds across three propositions. The district is currently making progress on several bond-funded construction and renovation projects, including:

• Creekside High School: A $180 million project converting the Ninth Grade Center into a comprehensive high school, with concrete floors complete and walls underway.

• Elementary School No. 9: A new $70 million campus in the Flora development that is currently under design.

• Districtwide Academic Center: A $40 million renovation of the former College Street high school campus, currently under design.

• Farley and Hutto middle school additions: A $14 million expansion project that will go out to bid in the spring.

• Districtwide technology infrastructure: A $10.5 million project to upgrade safety, security, data storage and internet connectivity.

• Hutto High School: A $10 million modernization project that is ahead of schedule.

• Bus and Satellite Operations: A $10 million southern bus depot with building design underway.

Munch Munch Waffles & More will open a location in Hutto. 

The details: The Liberty Hill-based restaurant first opened in 2022, and serves a variety of breakfast and brunch foods, including chicken and waffles, omelettes, and biscuits and gravy. 

Owners Crystal and Bakaffa Casey discovered their passion for breakfast food and feeding others while Bakaffa Casey was stationed in Europe in 2015.

Crystal Casey said there is not a set opening date yet. According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, construction on the restaurant is set to wrap up in January.

Circuit of the Americas is gearing up to go beyond racing with the opening of COTALAND Theme Park on Sept. 26.

A closer look: Officials said the park will offer everything from extreme-thrill coasters to children’s rides and family-friendly attractions.

Learn more: The roughly 30-acre park will feature 33 attractions, with a compact layout designed in part to help keep guests and employees cooler during hot Central Texas summers.

Bobby Epstein, chairman and founder of COTA, discussed the approach with Community Impact before construction began.

“Most parks would spread this many rides out over a wider space, but what we’ve tried to do with this park is actually condense it a little bit so that we have more shade,” Epstein said.

What's next? Beyond COTALAND, officials said they are planning a water park and, longer term, an on-site resort to expand the venue's year-round entertainment offerings.
