Local event space opens in downtown New Braunfels

A new event space has opened in downtown New Braunfels.

Cowboy Hall, owned by Shaina Corzine, who also owns Luxe Design Studio and Red Stag, opened at 214 San Antonio St., Ste. B, on Oct. 29.

What they offer: Cowboy Hall serves as a space for weddings, receptions, corporate events, holiday parties, baby showers, fundraisers, seminars and more. The space can hold 150 people, but Corzine said the ideal capacity is 130.

Corzine said Cowboys and Cadillacs will provide food and drink for events at Cowboy Hall, but customers can bring their own specialty cakes. Because Cowboy Hall and Cowboys and Cadillacs are connected, staff will deliver food directly from the kitchen, which sets them apart from traditional event catering, Corzine said.

The event space will help serve as a backup for rooftop events held at Cowboys and Cadillacs in case of bad weather, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt coming to Creekside Town Center this winter

A frozen yogurt shop is opening in the Creekside Town Center this winter.

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt is opening at 323 Creekside Crossing, Ste. 113, between Potbelly Sandwich Works and CAVA in mid-December.

Meet the owners: Husband and wife Shawn and Jennifer Morris own the New Braunfels franchise as well as two other locations in San Antonio and San Marcos.

They said they would visit their local Menchie's Frozen Yogurt every Friday night with their family and decided to purchase their first franchise in San Marcos in 2019. The second franchise they purchased in 2022 was the location that they used to visit with their family every weekend.

The duo said they wanted to open a shop between their other locations, which is why they chose the Creekside shopping area.

"We're really excited," Shawn Morris said.

On the menu: Menchie's Frozen Yogurt offers a variety of self-serve yogurt flavors and toppings. Customers can also purchase special-order frozen yogurt cakes for any occasion.

Closing the gap: McCarty Lane H-E-B opens in San Marcos's east side, alleviating local food desert

The third San Marcos H-E-B location opened its doors on Oct. 7, expanding food access for residents on the east side of I-35 and the city’s south side.

The 114,000-square-foot full-service grocery store broke ground on Nov. 4, 2025. The H-E-B represents an estimated $53 million capital investment in the city and created over 400 jobs: approximately 212 full-time and 238 part-time.

“H-E-B is built to reflect the community it serves, and this store is no exception,” said Jeff Martinez, general manager of the new H-E-B location. “We've gone all out for you, bringing together fresh food, quality products and convenient services you know and love from H-E-B.”

The impact: San Marcos City Council members have expressed the need for more grocery options in the city for several years. On May 7, 2024, council adopted a resolution to support tax incentives for grocery store development in the city.

The new H-E-B helps alleviate the access struggles community members on the east side of I-35 in San Marcos face.
