Looking for things to do in your community this October? Here is a list of 12 events happening in the Allen area in the coming weeks. 

1. The Market at The Village at Allen: Shop an open-air market with vendors including local farmers, artisan food vendors, makers and small businesses at The Grove at The Village at Allen. The market will offer fresh produce, baked treats, handcrafted goods, specialty food and more.

2. Allen Fall Fest: The family-friendly event will feature local vendors, food trucks, games, an RC Rally, a crafter’s market, a petting zoo, live music and more. Parking will be available at The Edge Recreation Center in Allen Station Park, and overflow parking will be at Allen Public library, with shuttles available from both lots during the event, per the city’s website.

3. Family Fun Days at The Farm: Barnyard Boo Bash: Enjoy spooky fun at this family-friendly event at The Farm in Allen. The event will include a giant bounce horse, a Halloween obstacle course, lawn games, face painting, festive crafts, local vendors and more.

Relax Myora is now open in Allen, a company representative said.

What you need to know: The massage and wellness spa offers lymphatic massage, frozen shoulder massage, sciatica massage and more, per its website.

By the end of 2026, passengers will be able to fly to nine domestic destinations from McKinney National Airport.

Avelo Airlines announced the addition of four nonstop service routes that will launch at McKinney National Airport in mid-December, including Atlanta, Denver, Nashville and New Orleans. The newly announced destinations join the five nonstop routes to four Florida cities as well as Las Vegas that Avelo Airlines officials announced earlier this year.

The specifics: Air service will begin Nov. 11 upon completion of a new commercial passenger service terminal that's been under construction since 2025. Avelo Airlines signed on as the first commercial service provider in late 2025.

The airline will begin operations by offering flights to Las Vegas and four cities in Florida: Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa.

The update: Service to the newly announced destinations is set to begin Dec. 16 and will be operated at varying frequencies depending on the destination. New destinations include:

• Atlanta, Georgia

• Denver, Colorado

• Nashville, Tennessee

• New Orleans, Louisiana

Quote of note: “The response from North Texas has been extraordinary, and the bookings back that up,” Avelo Airlines founder and CEO Andrew Levy said in a news release. “Adding four new destinations and a third based aircraft further cements our commitment to Collin County.”

Texas Woman’s University saw an overall increase in enrollment for the fall 2026 semester compared to the fall 2025 semester, and the University of North Texas experienced an increase in new freshmen and transfer students in that same time period.

The impact: TWU experienced an overall 5.9% increase in student enrollment to 16,412 students, which is its second-highest enrollment ever, according to a release from the university. The highest enrollment in university history was 16,441 in 2020.

UNT reported that 42,016 students were enrolled this semester, including 6,388 freshmen and 3,434 new transfer students, according to a news release from the university. This is an overall 9.57% increase from fall 2025.

Zooming in: UNT also saw an increase in campus enrollment at its Frisco location with 3,377 students enrolled in courses, a record number for that campus, according to a news release.

The total number of UNT students is a decrease from 43,567 in fall 2025, mostly due to a loss of more than 1,300 international students, according to previous reporting.

The total enrollment at TWU for the fall 2025 semester was 15,424, according to the university’s website.
