Celina council considers tradeoffs for 15-year downtown reconstruction

Celina city officials want to convert all downtown streets to concrete in the next 10-15 years.

In order to accomplish that goal, officials will have to divert resources to downtown street reconstruction by pushing back other infrastructure projects.

What they’re saying: Despite the resources required to reconstruct downtown streets within 15 years, council members agreed that the effort was necessary.

“It was before the '60s that all these roads were redone,” Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Brandon Grumbles said. “So it’s time.”

The course will be closed during renovations though members will have access to other courses offered at Clubs, a media representative said. Officials are expecting to reopen the course in the fourth quarter of 2026.
