Community Waste Disposal adjusts summer hours for Keller trash pickup

Residents in Keller will have earlier trash and recycling pickup times during the summer as Community Waste Disposal, the city's trash collection service, shifts its hours.

The overview: According to a city news release, garbage, recycling, bulk and yard waste crews will begin routes as early as 6 a.m. starting June 1.

Summer collection hours will remain in effect through August.

City leaders approved Community Waste Disposal’s request to begin operations an hour earlier than usual to help workers avoid the heat during summer months, according to the release.

Officials encouraged residents to place trash and recycling bins at the curb the night before collection day to avoid missing pickup.

Art Wheel Studio Art School rebrands in Roanoke, continues traditional fine arts training

Art Wheel Studio Art School LLC rebranded in Roanoke, continuing its mission of providing classical-style arts education rooted in traditional European fine art techniques for students of all ages, an April 22 social media post from the Metroport Chamber states.

The rebranding was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the chamber, facility tours and a raffle with giveaways.

The details: According to the company’s website, Art Wheel Studio Art School LLC teaches drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media using European “Old Master” techniques with individualized instruction.

The studio offers courses in watercolor, oil, gouache, sculpture, charcoal and pastel, and students have the opportunity to enter in local, national and international competitions.

Founder Liliana Nedzelska began teaching art in 2004 from her home in Keller before expanding into after-school programs and library instruction.

She later launched Art Wheel Studio in Roanoke in 2015 with her son, Stanislav Nedzelsky, according to previous reporting.

Universal Kids Resort sets July 1 opening date

Universal Kids Resort will open in Frisco on July 1.

What you need to know: The theme park is a first-of-its-kind that is designed for kids. Guests can start planning their vacations with tickets sales and hotel bookings now available, according to a May 28 news release.

Tickets, packages and the first annual pass option for Universal Kids Resort are officially on sale.

Looking back: The theme park was announced in January 2023 and it was always geared toward young children and families. The project later broke ground that year and the hotel joined the Frisco tourism group in early 2026.

Quote of note: "When Universal opens, it's going to be something that's really unique about growing up in Frisco," Mayor Jeff Cheney said. "It's going to be kind of a big part of the Frisco DNA going forward."

Spicy Aroma offers Indian flavors, breakfast buffet in Denton

Yummy Crab plans to open a location in Frisco by the end of the year, a company representative confirmed.

The chain offers crab legs, shrimp and crawfish by the pound alongside Southern seafood dishes like hush puppies and fried catfish.
