Frisco’s Four Corners mixed-use development plans are changing again as officials approve a revised vision focused on fitness, outdoor recreation and community gathering spaces near U.S. 380 and FM 423.

What’s new: This time, the Four Corners development plans have been revised to shift the focus from food and dining to recreation and wellness by:

• Replacing planned restaurant space adjacent to the central park with a fitness center.

• Adding a covered outdoor gathering area

• Creating space for outdoor fitness classes or events.

• Increasing usable green space around the park.

• Simplifying and removing previously planned decorative entrance features.

City documents state the revised plan follows the original vision of ensuring that “any development adjacent (to) the open space is not turning its back on the open space but rather orienting and designing towards the open space so that it serves as an amenity to the development.”

Shady’s Burgers & Brewhaha has opened a waterfront location at Hidden Cove Marina in Frisco, offering burgers, tacos, drinks, live music and boat dock access for diners on the east side of Lewisville Lake

What to know: The newest Shady’s location will serve visitors directly on the waterfront of Hidden Cove Marina on the east side of Lewisville Lake. The menu features a variety of burgers, tacos, salads, sandwiches, wraps and a full beer and cocktail menu.

Also available are milkshakes, non-alcoholic beverages, a full-kids menu, monthly specials and multiple side dishes. Diners can arrive by boat and dock at the restaurant or drive in by car.

The Plaza at Spring Creek: Shopping center The Plaza at Spring Creek will start complete construction in early December 2027, according to TDLR documents. The development will feature two parking decks, 11 retail buildings and two community green spaces.

Texas is halting the approval of new data center projects until state regulators can audit all data centers seeking to connect to the power grid, Gov. Greg Abbott announced Aug. 3.

The overview: The governor directed the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas to conduct “a comprehensive verification and audit” of all data center applicants “before any additional data centers are approved to move forward.” 

Data center regulation has emerged as a bipartisan issue in recent months, and the move comes amid both growing public criticism of Texas’ booming data center industry and recent political pressure for Abbott to respond.

Zooming in: Abbott asked the PUC and ERCOT to collect information about the tax exemptions each data center is collecting; details about each project's anticipated water and electricity usage; and how data center developers will work to limit noise, light pollution and other impacts on local communities.

Officials did not say how long the pause would last or when the audits would begin.
