Lane closures on Parker Road for $1.8 million bridge construction start March 23

A segment of Parker Road in Plano will be reduced to two lanes in each direction starting March 23, according to a city news release.

The closures will allow construction crews to replace a $1.8 million bridge culvert between Canoncita Lane and Bandolino Lane.

The details: The culvert is part of the bridge that allows water from Pittman Creek to flow under Parker Road. Replacing it will take roughly 10 months, per the release.

One more thing: Work to put down asphalt overlays on several major thoroughfares, including Parker Road between Independence Parkway and US 75, will start this summer, according to the city’s website.

Happy Ski School opened recently in south Plano, a business representative said.

The details: The business, which is owned and operated by Lewis Anderson, offers private ski and snowboarding lessons for ages 2 years old and up, the representative said.

TOCA Social offers soccer-themed ‘eatertainment’ center in Grandscape

TOCA Social, a European interactive soccer-themed entertainment destination, recently opened its first American location at Grandscape in The Colony.

The gist: The venue has 20 playing boxes, which are semi-private spaces where guests can play games, eat and drink. Each space has an interactive digital screen with five soccer ball-oriented game options.

Quote of note: “You take turns [going] on to the playing area. It’s kind of like bowling, you're competing against each other in a fun and lighthearted way,” TOCA Social President Alex Harman, said. “If you can propel a ball forward, you can play."

Pepper Lunch sets opening date for Frisco location

Pepper Lunch is opening March 28 in Frisco, according to a social media post.

The Japanese fast-casual dining chain features a do-it-yourself teppanyaki concept with meals served on 500-degree Fahrenheit hot plates, allowing customers to cook their food to their preference at the table. The menu offers pepper rice dishes, teriyaki options, steaks, seafood, curry, pasta and vegetarian options.

Family-owned Venezia’s Pizza Cafe prioritizes hospitality in Richardson

As a family-owned and -operated business, the Krasniqi family places high priority on providing a family-friendly environment at Venezia’s Pizza Cafe.
