Granzin's Meat Market has opened another location in the city of New Braunfels.

What you need to know: The meat market, founded by Tony and Sonna Granzin along with their three sons, Gary, Mark and Michael, opened its doors at 3516 FM 306 on July 13 . Granzin's Meat Market has one other New Braunfels location along with one Seguin location and Pleasanton location, according to its website.

Granzin's Meat Market serves various cuts of meat and grocery items. The new location also has an area called Granzin's Supply, which sells Yeti coolers, speakers from Turtlebox, hats and apparel.

Texas State University in San Marcos will begin to offer a new program for students in the Department of Engineering Technology with the issuance of a $1 million grant.

The framework: The Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation, or IACMI, has awarded Texas State University a three-year grant to establish the Metallurgical Engineering, Trades Apprenticeship and Learning, or METAL, program, according to a news release.

The METAL program will train students to work in the metal casting, forging and forming industries through free online training and in-person bootcamps, according to the release. Four bootcamps will be offered per year, all of which provide one week of hands-on training at no cost to the participants to learn a wide variety of topics related to metal casting, such as:

• Tool design
• Process simulation
• Heat treatment
• Metal rolling
• Forging

Texas’ power grid operator and regulator have laid out their plans to regulate data centers that connect to the state grid and ensure data center companies, not residents, pay for the industry’s growth.

What's happening: To shield Texans from the negative impacts of data center growth, the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas are:

• Prohibiting data centers from taking existing power resources off the grid
• Launching a new process to evaluate large projects looking to connect to the grid
• Creating standards that large consumers must meet before joining the grid
• Developing incentives for large consumers to reduce their energy use ahead of a grid emergency
• Requiring large companies to pay for the grid infrastructure needed to serve them
• Improving ERCOT’s process for projecting future demand
