The Tarrant Appraisal District will have three positions for the board of directors on the Nov. 3 election ballot. According to a TAD press release, the filing period for the TAD board will run from July 18 to Aug. 17, closing at 5 p.m.
TAD is responsible for all real estate and business personal property appraisals for 73 jurisdictions, such as cities, towns, villages, school districts and colleges, throughout Tarrant County, according to its website.
Zooming in: The spots that are up for election are currently held by Eric Morris, Callie Rigney and Matt Bryant. They all held positions at other county entities before joining the TAD board after winning their respective elections in May 2024.
The background: The TAD board features nine positions, three of which are voted on by residents. Senate Bill 2 mandated that counties with a population of over 75,000 should have their boards of directors increased by three at-large members through a majority vote, according to previous reporting.
