The Colleyville City Council proposed a tax rate of $0.352480 per $100 valuation at its Aug. 18 meeting. If adopted, the rate would be a 13% increase over the current rate of $0.311931 per $100 valuation. 

What it means: Because the proposed rate is above the no-new-revenue rate, a public hearing is required before adoption and is scheduled during the council's Sept. 1 meeting. A second hearing and possible adoption of the rate is scheduled for the council’s Sept. 15 meeting.

The no-new-revenue rate is the tax rate that would produce the same revenue as the previous year, accounting for changes in property value and was $0.321034 per $100 valuation, according to city documents

Because the rate is not above the voter-approval rate of $0.352480 per $100 valuation, the city does not have to hold an election to get voter approval. However, voters can still show their support or opposition at the public hearings. 

The city can adopt a tax rate lower than the one proposed but cannot adopt a higher one. 

Snack and drink store, Exotic Snack Guys, is now open within Grapevine Mills.

What they offer: The store sells a variety of drinks, sweets and savory snacks from over 40 countries, with large supplies from Japan, India and Mexico. 

Employee Syed Malik said the store rotates stock every two weeks in order to keep the supply fresh and interesting for customers.

Southlake’s proposed budget, which is over $133 million, will help the city maintain its existing infrastructure and increase employee compensation.

City staff presented the proposed $133.65 million budget to council during the Aug. 18 meeting. The overall budget is a reduction of around $4 million, City Manager Alison Ortowski said.

The details: The city projects more than $159 million in revenue compared to $133.65 million in expenses, according to city documents. The budgeted revenue is a 3% increase from what was adopted for the 2025-26 fiscal year, while expenses are down by 2.9%.

Within the budget, the FY 2026-27 general fund revenues are budgeted at $61.28 million with $57.55 million in expenditures, which results in an estimated $3.72 million surplus.

1. Core Scientific renovations
One of Denton’s two data centers, Core Scientific, will see renovations for a 27,678 square-foot facility to be used as a data hall, according to a TDLR filing.
