Solms Road Improvement Project sees progress in New Braunfels
New Braunfels City Council approved a $789,131 contract with STV Inc. for the final plans for the Solms Road Improvement Project from I-35 frontage road to FM 482 on Sept. 22.
Project details: The Solms Road Improvement Project will include an improved three-lane curbed roadway with underground drainage, an Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant 10-foot shared-use path and a 6-foot sidewalk. There will also be a traffic signal and pedestrian improvements at the FM 482 intersection, according to agenda documents.
Learn more: The voter-approved project is part of Proposition A in the city’s 2023 Bond Program, which funds eight citywide transportation projects.
Proposition A provides $99.33 million for the construction, acquisition, and upgrade of Common Street, Conrads Lane, Kohlenberg Road, South Kowald Lane, Solms Road and Barbarosa Road/Saur Lane. The proposition also funds New Braunfels’ citywide streets and intersection improvement programs, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.
Comal ISD officials celebrate opening of Mayfair Elementary School
Comal ISD officials held a ribbon-cutting celebrating the official opening of Mayfair Elementary School, located at 5912 Guthrie Trail, on Sept. 23.
The elementary school—which spans over 103,000 square feet of building space—was completed on time and within budget, Chief Operations Officer Mark Stahl said. It serves 850 students and has over 16,000 square feet of outdoor play area.
“[Mayfair Elementary School] is a result of years of vision, planning and collaboration,” Stahl said.
Did you know? The conceptual design of the school was inspired by water—a natural resource vehemently woven into the identity of New Braunfels, Stahl said.
“This connection influenced the design direction, resulting in blue hues throughout the building,” Stahl said.

“Here, at Mayfair Elementary, we will work together to ensure that all of our Mountain Lions are equipped with the tools necessary to make a positive impact on society,” Gonzales said.

A new spot for building materials is now open in Universal City.
What you need to know: VoidForm Products, a building material supplier, opened at 1500 Northlake Pass, Ste. 301 on Sept. 10. The company designs and develops products for foundation protection and underground utilities.
Santikos to build Trinity Oaks development along US 281 in 2027
Santikos Entertainment is building a new 33-acre, multipurpose development in North San Antonio.
The details: Known as the Trinity Oaks development, the site will include multiple entertainment and retail options as well as residential accommodations, according to a news release. The new development will be located near the Timberwood Park area at the corner of Trinity Park and US 281.
Trinity Oaks will feature10-12 premium screen theaters, multiple bowling lanes and a gaming area.
The entertainment project is estimated to be completed in late 2027, with retail spaces available in early 2026.
